Alpenglow Biosciences invites SID 2026 attendees to a lunch symposium focused on hidradenitis suppurativa, emerging imaging technologies and artificial intelligence.
The session, Understanding Hidradenitis Suppurativa Using Novel Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, will feature Amanda Nelson, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Penn State College of Medicine.
HS is a complex inflammatory skin disease where tissue architecture, immune organization and structural changes can vary across the full sample. This symposium will discuss how approaches such as 3D tissue imaging and AI-powered analysis can help researchers move beyond partial views and generate richer biological context.
Dr. Nelson and her team have more than 20 years of experience studying sebaceous glands, hair follicle and skin stem cells, skin regeneration, wound healing and innate immune signaling in skin. Their work follows a “Bed to Bench to Bedside” approach, connecting patients, clinicians, bioinformaticians and industry collaborators to better understand inflammatory skin disease mechanisms and support therapeutic discovery.
