Hidradenitis suppurativa lesions are spatially complex. Tunnels, follicles, inflammatory cells, nerves, and other tissue structures can extend across regions that are difficult to capture in individual 2D sections.
Alpenglow uses intact-tissue 3D imaging and quantitative analysis to study these features across much larger tissue volumes, helping researchers examine tissue architecture and spatial relationships within the broader context of the lesion.
Recent work in HS has examined the spatial organization of mast cells and nerve fibers across intact tissue, providing a new way to investigate neuroimmune relationships and other features that may be difficult to reconstruct from conventional sections.
