Congratulations to Dr. Valerie Yang on Winning Alpenglow Biosciences 3D I/O Pro Assay Grant

Alpenglow Biosciences is excited to announce Professor Valerie Yang from the National Cancer Centre Singapore, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, as the winner of the Alpenglow 3D I/O Pro Assay Grant!

Congratulations to Professor Yang and her team on this significant achievement with their project: "3D imaging and profiling of tertiary lymphoid structures and neutrophils in non-cutaneous melanoma to identify biomarkers of response to immunotherapy."

When asked about the potential clinical impact of the study, Dr. Yang wrote “Asian melanomas exhibit lower response rates to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB), have fewer targetable mutations, and limited treatment options with poor outcomes. Using innovative 3D imaging technology, we aim to identify immune-related spatial biomarkers correlating with ICB response, informing future studies to improve patient outcomes.” In regards to the importance of 3D Spatial Biology to her study Dr. Yang commented “3D imaging is essential for estimating the density of TLS within the tumor. Furthermore, visualizing immune cell interactions in 2D is incomplete, as interactions in the z-plane will be missed. This approach will enable us to overcome these issues and better understand the immune microenvironment in non-cutaneous melanomas and its association with response to ICB.”
